The Chrysalis Group is currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Assistant to provide support to our Behaviour Support Clinicians.

About the role

The purpose of the Behaviour Clinical Assistant role is to provide children and families and persons living with disability and/or mental health issues with a range of therapeutic supports. The Behaviour Clinical Assistant will work alongside our senior clinicians and program participants to develop and implement individual plans, participate in individual or group therapy, family counselling, mentoring and engage with other clinical services as required.

Position Description

  • Provide Therapeutic Services including counselling, crisis intervention support and or mentoring for skills development to NDIS participants and their families or supporters.
  • Provide professional case management for people with physical, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities.
  • Responsible for initial assessment, reporting and review meetings
  • Work from a client person-centred approach providing empathy and compassion to clients.
  • Provide trauma-informed therapy support for individuals and or their supports.
  • Provide carer training and support

About you

The successful applicant will be someone who meets the following criteria:

  • Possess, or willing to undertake a Cert IV in Mental Health, Disability Services, Community Services, Counselling or equivalent, or extensive equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake risk assessments and safety planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective workplace relationships with a diverse range of professionals and stakeholders
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to the human rights of children and adults living with disability
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to always maintain confidentially
  • Computer literacy with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Committed to continuing professional development and awareness of current and emerging evidence-based practices
  • Hold a current NSW Drivers Licence and the ability to use your own car
  • Hold a comprehensive car insurance policy
  • Provide a Covid-19 digital vaccination certificate

Experience in family therapy or narrative therapy or experience developing and running therapy for groups would be highly considered.

Experience working within the NDIS service sector would be an advantage.
