About the Opportunity

In this influential role you will lead the delivery of the CoA greenhouse gas emission reduction strategy, policy and projects and deliver the CoA community and operational greenhouse gas inventories and reporting to meet international, state and local reporting obligations. You will also deliver carbon neutral certification for CoA operations in accordance with Climate Active requirements.

You will provide expert strategic advice to our Leaders on emissions reduction strategy and policy, including emissions reduction targets and methodologies and measures to improve the CoA community and operational greenhouse gas inventory reporting processes. You will play a key role in the development of partnerships within Council, with government agencies and with the private sector to progress implementation of procedures, processes and policy to deliver our greenhouse gas inventories, emissions reduction strategy and environmental reporting obligations.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience with leading, developing and reporting greenhouse gas inventories.
  • Substantial experience with the development and implementation of environmental policy and/or project delivery in sustainability and climate change policy (adaptation and mitigation).
  • Substantial experience in working collaboratively in large organisations to deliver project outcomes in the field of environmental management and sustainability within an urban environment.
  • Thorough understanding of environmental sustainability and climate change issues relevant to Capital Cities and the relevant policy directions of the South Australian and Australian governments.
  • Working knowledge of Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard and the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories.

Please be advised this is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a starting salary at the Level 8 Classification commencing at $116,551 + 10% superannuation.
