City of Yarra Children's Services is seeking an innovative and passionate leader to guide the pedagogy and practice of a dynamic range of services. Our long day care, OSHC programs, kindergartens and occasional/casual care programs meet the needs of a diverse range of children and families. We pride ourselves on our inclusive practice, investment in our educators practice and opportunities for community partnerships.

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated experience in:

  • Current pedagogical practice
  • Quality improvement planning
  • Implementing pedagogical projects
  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Event and network planning and delivery
  • Public speaking and presentation
  • Early Years sector engagement 

This role will lead the pedagogy and practice of service leaders, educational leaders and educators across Yarra's long day care, kindergarten, occasional/casual care, after care and vacation care. 

Key aspects of this role are:

  • Working as part of the children's services leadership team. This includes the Children's Services Coordinator; Team Leaders of Early Year and School Age & Occasional Care; Early Childhood Teachers; OSHC & Occasional are supervisors and educational leaders; and centre coordinators.
  • Working with services on assessment and rating preparation and the support of service Quality Improvement Plans.
  • Supporting service with assessment and rating exceeding themes of embedded practice, reflective practice and community consultation.
  • Supporting the voice of the child in community consultation on behalf of children's services and the organisations; and advocating for child friendly city outcomes. 
  • Managing the Pre-School Field Officer and Access to Early Learning Facilitator programs; as well as leading inclusive practice across the services and municipality.
  • Supporting the roll out of Kindergarten reform, recruitment and potential service expansion.
  • Leading the direction of pedagogical projects, unit/branch projects and grant submissions. 
  • Supporting educational leaders in their coaching and mentoring of educators.
  • Sector engagement including planning and delivering networks, as well as being an active member of sector networks on behalf of Yarra.
  • Planning, implementing and delivering professional development sessions and events for educators, the sector and families.
