  • Salary - 80K-90K per year depending on experience

  • Award: Paid in accordance with SCHCADS Award dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Suitable candidate will deliver counselling to Care Leavers and their families. We also require someone who is skilled with writing and attention to detail to complete National Redress Scheme Forms.

Counselling will be provided from our office in Melbourne.

Essential criteria

  • Psychology/Counselling qualifications.
  • Drivers’ License & own vehicle
  • Preferred Registration with PACFA, ACA or other relevant organisation
  • Experience working in direct service provision in the community sector, preferably in a counselling role
  • Preference to be Care Leaver-informed
  • Well-developed counselling skills – demonstrated ability to draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches
  • Understanding of the issues facing Care Leavers and the impact of childhood trauma
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Summary of the position

Working as part of CLAN’s Team to provide counselling and support for Care Leavers and their families with complex needs.

Providing intensive clinical work, developing long-term, trusting sustainable relationships with clients, families and community including providing holistic counselling and assistance with the National Redress Scheme.

Please note the successful candidate will be working in our Melbourne Office.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide counselling to Care Leavers and their families with a range of issues. Provide referral, advocacy, information, and casework support services to these clients.
  • Work in a highly responsive, proactive and innovative way and engage with all who use the service, with respect and empathy.
  • Complete National Redress Applications, and support Care Leavers through this process.
  • Attend monthly supervision and weekly staff meetings by telephone.
  • Liaise with relevant networks, agencies, community members and government departments.
  • Carry out any administrative or clerical tasks including upkeep of client files, assist with bimonthly mailouts, writing reports and support letters etc.
  • Other duties as required by the CEO or Office Manager.

  • To perform all duties in accordance with the CLAN’s Code of Conduct and policies and procedures
  • It is important to take care to listen very carefully to what people are asking for and not make assumptions about their needs.
  • Worker’s roles can change according to the needs of CLAN and available resources.
