Working hours: Our working hours are flexible but depending on your location/time zone we envisage a 50 percent “overlap” with Philippine Standard Time (PST). We work 8 hours per day with core hours of 10am-4pm PST, Mondays to Fridays.

Contract: If you are based outside our HQ (outside of the Philippines), the contract will be tailored to the circumstances and likely be in the form of a consultancy/freelance contract

Remuneration: Competitive

Travel: Some project-related travel to Asia may be required once it is possible to safely do so.

BACKGROUND

Clean Air Asia is an international non-governmental organisation leading the regional mission for better air quality, and healthier, more liveable cities throughout Asia. Our mission is to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in Asia and contribute to the development of a more sustainable, equitable and healthier region. We empower governments and cities by inspiring action and focusing efforts on the planning and implementation of solutions at scale, fostering regional cooperation to address issues of mutual concern, and ensuring the integration of air quality management across sectors and institutions.

We have offices in the Philippines (Headquarter) and in China and India. Furthermore, we have country networks across Asia.

We are recruiting for a full time Communications and Marketing manager to join our dynamic team at Clean Air Asia. You will be joining us at an exciting time where we have developed our new organisational communications strategy, a strategy that you will be responsible for both implementing but also refining and adjusting. Our work environment is flexible, fast paced, international, multicultural and a mix between “working from home arrangements” (from anywhere in the world), to hybrid working (in case you are close to one of our offices). You will manage a Communications Assistant and work alongside dedicated country communications staff in China and India.

The role will involve working with individual staff, teams and working groups within the organisation, as well as with key external stakeholders. As we are expanding our initiatives, we also envision significant involvement in and development of our marketing efforts.

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual who can both strategise and implement, with experience and skills in communications/marketing/PR, and ideally also web content management. In addition to your communications experience and skills, your English proficiency must be impeccable.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To lead the planning, development, implementation and marketing of Clean Air Asia’s communications strategy, work, and outreach in line with the organisational mission, vision and values, ensuring that Clean Air Asia has a credible voice and brand in the international community, for donors, the general public and partners. And to ensure that our communications and marketing resources are allocated and used to achieve the greatest impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE OF WORK

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Communications and Marketing Manager will have the following responsibilities:

General responsibilities:

  • Lead in the development of organisational communications strategies.
  • Coordinate communications across Clean Air Asia offices.
  • Plan and implement the communication activities and events of Clean Air Asia across programs and projects.
  • Develop and implement communication plans for key projects in coordination with program staff.
  • Proactively content manage, maintain and update the Clean Air Asia website in coordination with relevant staff.
  • Lead the preparation of the Annual Report.
  • Lead the development of our online content across Clean Air Asia’s social media platforms.
  • Lead the development of Clean Air Asia podcasts.
  • Track daily news featuring Clean Air Asia for quarterly reporting.
  • Write and disseminate press releases, organisational statements, and other communications material.
  • Edit and proofread web content and communications materials in terms of plain English.
  • Support positive communication across the organisation, encourage constructive relationships, including with the Clean Air Asia’s key partners.
  • Provide ongoing communications support for Clean Air Asia’s programs and country offices.

Social Media:

  • Responsible for Clean Air Asia brand presence on all our social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram.
  • Day-to-day management of all social media channels.
  • Sourcing social media content from a range of sources, including from Clean Air Asia programs.

Better Air Quality (BAQ) Conference:

  • Deliver and implement a media plan for the BAQ.
  • Manage media events and outreach at the conference itself.
  • Lead the development of communications materials, and communications activities and events prior to, during, and after the BAQ.
  • Write press releases and the BAQ closing statement.
  • Ensure senior Clean Air Asia staff and board members are adequately briefed for media appearances.

Marketing:

  • Lead the development and implementation of Clean Air Asia’s marketing efforts and materials.
  • Lead the continued branding of Clean Air Asia.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:

  • A university degree in Communications or Marketing
  • More than four years’ experience in working with PR/communications or marketing in a leading role (manager)
  • Solid all-round communications experience including NGO/corporate communications, media relations, digital and social media
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing communications and marketing plans
  • Demonstrable and proven strong English writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Experience in managing an organisational calendar and providing creative content, including press releases
  • In-depth knowledge of social media tools, trends, and applications (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
  • Strong interest in new technologies and web software
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, fluency in English, initiative, and good interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of multicultural and multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of producing innovative designs, layouts and infographics
  • A good eye for design and experience in working with designers, other external agencies in producing communications assets, datasets, briefings, etc.
  • Ability to analyse communications/campaign and project results, report progress and results regularly, and feed learning into future work.

DURATION, REMUNERATION AND OTHER BENEFITS

The selected candidate will be appointed under a fixed-term contract initially for 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance. The base monthly remuneration is competitive and can vary subject to the candidate’s professional qualifications and work experience. The remuneration is paid either in USD or PHP.
