About the role:

Closer Care has casual and permanent vacancies for Disability Support Workers and Mental Health Support Workers in:

  • Inner West
  • City of Sydney

Closer Care is frequently on the lookout for committed disability and psychosocial support workers to join our wonderful team and help empower those we support. The psychosocial support worker role is a diverse one. Some clients require support work one day a week, others require it multiple days a week. We tailor support plans around the needs of each client, in the hopes that we’ll strengthen their independence and confidence in the home and wider community.

Key responsibilities of the role include encouraging the participants’ involvement within the community and assisting them to achieve their goals. The role includes supporting individuals who without your support may not perform basic hygiene tasks, such as hand washing and brushing teeth, in addition to daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry. Disability Support Workers could be responsible for transporting clients to therapy or doctor appointments or taking them shopping and completing other chores.

What you will need:

  • Clear alignment to our organisation values
  • Be a compassionate, empathetic, and detail-oriented person
  • Patience, a passion for helping people, and being a team player
  • Have at least 2 years experience in the community care industry or studying in relevant field
  • Genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with disabilities
  • Demonstrate awareness of disability issues
  • Excellent communication and proven computer skills
  • Excellent ability in writing progress notes after every shift
  • Drivers license and access to a reliable/registered and insured vehicle
  • Clear and Current Working with Children Check and Police check or NDIS workers' check and First Aid certificate
  • Have three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine
  • Qualification relevant to the role will be well regarded

We reward by providing:

  • Pay between $32 - $39.26 per hour + 10.5% Superannuation, hourly rate is dependent on your experience and qualifications and vary on evenings and weekends
  • Frequent peer support and support from management
  • We include half hour travel time for most shifts

  • Flexible working arrangements shifts usually start at 10am
