The Role

LOVE BiTES is a well-established Respectful Relationships Education Program created by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) for young people aged 11-17 years that has been facilitated in schools across Australia since 2004.

We are currently looking for a passionate leader to join Coast Shelter and coordinate LOVE Bites Central Coast to deliver NAPCAN’s full suite of Love Bites and Love Bites Junior programming which is delivered to Central Coast schools.

The position will be responsible to develop and grow relationships within the local school community both public and private to enhance early intervention opportunities for young people delivered by Coast Shelter. The position manages research and development opportunities, program reporting and evaluation.

The LOVE Bites program is delivered by skilled facilitators who are experienced working with young people and are comfortable in working in the area of sexual assault and relationship violence. The position is responsible for the management and supervision of LOVE Bites facilitators and will be required to facilitate the program on occasion.

All about You

You hold a relevant tertiary qualification and are driven to make a difference in the lives of young people through early intervention programs. The successful applicant will have a minimum 3 years’ management experience and have an advanced understanding of child protection issues and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development. Experience delivering health or wellbeing programs to students in NSW high schools will be highly regarded.

To be considered for the position you must be able to address the essential criteria below;

  • Strong project coordination skills
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in Community Sector Services
  • Experience supervising staff and providing staff professional feedback and support
  • Presentation, organisation and facilitation skills
  • An understanding of community impact from sexual assault and domestic violence
  • Experience working with young people in a group setting
  • Extensive knowledge of local referral support options for young people and their families
