City of Boroondara
  • Exciting opportunity to grow your expertise in diversity and inclusion
  • Flexible part time position, 24 hours per week until June 2022
  • Rewarding, community facing role
  • $76,049 (plus Super, pro rata to be applied)

We have a newly created position for a passionate diversity and inclusion advisor who is keen to make a real difference across diversity groups and our volunteering cohort within Boroondara. This position sits within our wonderful team at our Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC), who focus on partnering volunteers within a number of volunteer-involving organisations in our community.

A little bit about the role

The Volunteer Diversity and Inclusion Officer will coordinate programs and strategies to build the capacity of our local volunteer-involving organisations to ensure volunteering is accessible for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, new migrants and people living with a disability.

This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen local relationships with diverse communities through support and guidance to our volunteer-involving organisations with the provision of community forums, information sharing, targeted training, relevant resources and coaching on how to engage diverse volunteers. This support will ensure that our volunteer-involving organisations have what they need to make well informed decisions and can contribute to our overarching strategy to increase participation of diverse groups in volunteering and community inclusion.

You will leverage your creativity in reviewing and updating our volunteer promotional and recruitment materials to ensure accessibility in addition to developing engaging content for use across our social media channels. Having expertise in this space, you will be able to contribute more broadly across our BVRC and there may also be opportunities to connect/network across Council with our diversity and inclusion champions who work to increase diversity and inclusion for both our community and employees.

This is an exceptionally rewarding position with multiple impact touchpoints - doesn’t that sound brilliant!
