About the role

The Support Worker works alongside participants to provide a range of diverse person-centred emotional and physical supports, while assisting participants to fulfil their NDIS plan goals. Tasks may include:

• in-home personal care,
• daily living assistance with domestic tasks (i.e. meal preparation, house cleaning, laundry),
• provide support inline accordance with individualised Care Plans,
• assisting participants to complete tasks in the community,
• supporting participants to participate in leisure activities,
• supporting participants to complete applications/forms

About you

Essential

We are looking for a Support Worker who has an open heart, is highly organised and detail oriented. The prospective worker will have well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with participants and their families, professionals and organisations. The prospective worker will have a genuine desire to provide care and support to vulnerable people as well as an ability to work in a changing work environment and to work both independently and part of a team. It is important that the prospective worker has an awareness of the barriers that exist LGBTQIA+ people with disabilities.

Additionally to this, the prospective worker will have the following:

• At least two doses of Covid-19 vaccination
• NDIS Worker Check (industry standard) OR DHS Working with Disability Check OR DHS Working With Vulnerable People Check

• DHS Working With Children Check
• Child Safe Environment Training Certification
• Mental Health First Aid certification
• A strong understanding of English
• Current First Aid & CPR certifications
• Full Driver’s Licence

Desirable

• In-depth understanding of LGBTQIA+ communities
• Lived experience of Disability and/or a member of LGBTQIA+ communities
• Current Flu vaccination
• An understanding/fluency of AusLan
• All training completed from the NDIS Quality & Safety Commission - please find the link to the courses here
• Fluency or ability to converse in a language other than English
• Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability or other relevant qualification, or working towards obtaining a qualification within 12 months
