We are currently looking for an In Home Family Support Worker to work in the inner northern suburbs of Brisbane in our Intensive Family Support Service. This position offers a great opportunity to be part of our dynamic organisation and could lead to future endeavours with us.

The role of the In Home Family Support Worker is to deliver intensive, time-limited support services and supported referrals to internal and external specialist services to address multiple and/or complex needs of families and improve family wellbeing, strength and resilience.

We need someone who:

• Has extensive practical experience maintaining a successful family household including budgeting, hygiene and cleanliness, safety, nutrition, cooking, shopping and setting routines
• Has a high level of cultural competency and ability to work well with families from all different cultures
• Is non-judgmental and can respectfully coach families in learning practical skills to raise their kids

Communify is in partnership with Act for kids preventing and treating child abuse and neglect. This program offers an extension to our multidisciplinary teams providing services to the marginalised and vulnerable families in our community. Partnering with Act for kids, means we can work with families at risk by providing information, advice and referral services and intensive family support with practical skill development.

We believe that all kids should have a safe and happy childhood, free from abuse and neglect. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. In 2013-14 over 40,844 children suffered from abuse or neglect in Australia – that’s one child every 13 minutes. That’s why we are partnering with Act for kids to work tirelessly to prevent and treat child abuse.
