Green Connect is a social enterprise on Dharawal Country in the Illawarra that creates jobs that care for people and planet. Specifically, we:

• Employ young people and former refugees, who are disproportionally affected by high unemployment
• Grow fair food at our award-winning urban permaculture farm
• Reduce waste through our zero waste Op Shops and perform Zero Waste services at events and for businesses
• Connect the community, knowing that social isolation is one of the biggest drivers of mental ill-health, and that when people come together, we can solve anything
• Run a sustainable business, with 80% of our expenses covered by income from trade

We’ve grown from a small group of people with an idea in 2011 to a team of 17 permanent staff, 120 supported staff (young people and former refugees) and around 80 volunteers. We need someone to continue to lead Green Connect’s growth into the future.

Who’ll thrive in this role

Someone with an endless amount of passion for what we do is core to this role. You’ll be someone who works strategically, is commercially savvy, forms values-aligned and sustainable partnerships, rallies for support, leads and manages a diverse team, and will happily get muddy boots being amongst daily activities.

Community Resources provides jobs to those who need them most. Jobs that care for people and planet, keeping waste out of landfill, and growing and distributing fair food. Green Connect operates as a social enterprise alongside Soft Landing, Resource Recovery Australia, Helping Hands, and our Community Services teams. Last year we provided jobs for 650 people across Australia, 79% of whom experienced barriers to employment.
