Community Wheels Inc. is a not-for-profit community transport organisation operating in the City of Parramatta and Cumberland. We offer accessible and affordable transport options for people who are transport disadvantaged, frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers.

A permanent part-time position has become available for a Community Liaison & Marketing Officer. The position is for 32 hours a week. Days and hours are flexible.

Tasks & responsibilities

The role of Community Liaison & Marketing Officer will be to:

  • Promote Community Wheels services with CALD (culturally & linguistically diverse) consumers and groups in Cumberland and Parramatta LGAs with the aim to bring in new clients and increase trip numbers
  • Build lasting relationships with CALD groups in the local area including Arabic, Vietnamese and Chinese communities
  • Assist management in developing new services or programs appropriate to the needs of CALD communities in these areas
  • Represent Community Wheels at community forums, working groups, etc. as required
  • Research and apply for relevant grant opportunities
  • Assist in increasing bus hire/charter of Community Wheels vehicles
  • Do regular social media updates/advertising mostly via Facebook
  • Complete administrative tasks as necessary for fulfilment of job duties.

Essential skills & experience

  • Enthusiastic and eager to engage with people of different cultural backgrounds
  • Experience and/or good knowledge of not-for-profit sector, particularly aged care and disability sectors
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong customer liaison and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work closely within a small team environment and relate well with others
  • Experience in social media advertising/marketing/postings
  • Bilingual in at least Arabic/English and ability to read and write Arabic
  • Good computer skills, particularly in Microsoft suite of products, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Double COVID-19 vaccination mandatory as is maintaining vaccinations

Desirable skills

  • Experience and understanding of community transport sector
  • Knowledge of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
  • Experience working with CALD community groups will be desirable
  • Knowledge of the City of Parramatta and Cumberland areas will be beneficial
