The Conservation Council ACT Region is seeking an enthusiastic Communications Manager with a flair for creative and compelling story-telling.

The successful applicant will play a central role communicating our campaigns, events and projects to a range of audiences, including the media, our member groups and stakeholders, financial supporters, and grant bodies, in collaboration with the Executive Director and other members of the team. They will have the capacity to grow and nurture strong relationships with donors and supporters, and promote signature fundraising events.

For an experienced communications professional, this position offers the opportunity to oversee the organisation's external communications and manage relationships with key stakeholders. Salary and finalised job description will be determined based on experience.

Position: Communications Manager

Hours: 30 hours per week (4 days/week)

Salary: $71-$80k depending on experience

Term: Two year contract (with three month probation period)

The Communication Manager will:

  • Communicate campaign messages through developing and implementing effective communications strategies.

  • Produce creative and engaging content on a wide range of environment and sustainability issues for media releases, opinion pieces, donor communications, and web and social media content to a high editorial standard.

  • Deliver a vibrant and engaging online presence.

  • Oversee communications with key stakeholders including member groups, supporters, funding bodies and community and business contacts, in collaboration with other members of the team.

  • Engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to build new audiences.

  • Monitor and evaluate the Conservation Council’s communications reach on traditional and social media channels.

  • Promote key supporter/fundraising events.

  • Develop and implement strategies and materials to increase donor giving and philanthropic grants.

  • Effectively utilise CMS and CRM to support communications and engagement.

You are someone who:

  • is an excellent writer, and a creative and compelling communicator who can inspire audiences.
  • has experience communicating environmental issues to a public audience.
  • can work effectively across a range of digital platforms to grow audiences and build support for campaign objectives.
  • enthusiastically pitches stories to the media, and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • thrives in a fast-paced office environment, is able to work independently and prioritise deadlines; and enjoys the flexibility and opportunities that come with working in a small team.
  • is organised and has common sense project management skills that you can apply to developing and managing events.
  • keeps up with new technology and online programs that make your job that much easier, and delivers professional outputs.

  • A passion for protecting our environment and building a more sustainable world.
