About us

The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the role

An Aboriginal Designated position, responsible for providing advice on victim centred, therapeutic approaches and policy reform with a particular focus on Koori justice across all Specialist Courts.

Supporting the Supervising Magistrate for Koori Justice and working closely with Specialist Courts and Programs and the Family Violence Branch, this role is responsible for research, review, development and reform of policy across the Koori Justice portfolio at MCV.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong conceptual and analytical abilities to develop and support improved and equitable justice outcomes for the Koori community
  • Extensive experience and a record of achievement in policy development.
  • Demonstrated experience in development and implementation of complex strategic policy initiatives
  • Sound knowledge of the Victorian Justice system, SCP, solution focused courts and therapeutic jurisprudence
