Principal Evaluation Lead, Family Violence Branch

Court Services Victoria

Magistrates’ Court of Victoria

  • Manage the all-encompassing process and outcome evaluation of the MCV-led family violence reforms.
  • Lead a range of in-house and externally contracted evaluation projects and activities.

About us

The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

Following the Royal Commission into Family Violence (RCFV), the Victorian Budget 2017-18 made an unprecedented investment to respond to its 227 recommendations, including a significant investment to improve the court system.

This reform agenda is reflective of the joint commitment by the Victorian Government through the 10 Year Plan to end family violence and Court Services Victoria (CSV) to improve the experience for victim survivors and perpetrators of family violence and court users more broadly.

Timely, robust and credible evaluation is crucial to be able to track and assess the implementation of the RCFV reforms, progress towards achieving the intended outcomes and to ensure MCV and our key partners can continue to improve the Courts response to family violence.

About the role

The Principal Evaluation Lead is responsible for managing evaluations of Courts led Family Violence Reforms including evaluation contracts. The role will also manage the program outcomes and evaluation framework and the evaluation plan for each specific project under the program and ensure alignment with the wider whole of government family violence outcomes framework.
