Fundraising Coordinator

The Centre for Policy Development

In this intermediate-level role as Fundraising Coordinator, you will play a vital role in assisting CPD to secure resources that enable us to create transformative systems change by addressing complex policy challenges with practical solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an organisation working on some of the most critical issues facing our society and economy in Australia and the region. You will join a close-knit team that implements effective fundraising strategies to ensure the organisation can continue its impactful work.

We believe our people are our key asset and we are committed to recruiting and retaining talented and dedicated individuals. The successful candidate will be based in CPD’s Sydney office.

We support flexible work and will consider either full-time or part-time work for the right candidate. Remote work on a hybrid model is a standard practice.

Here is a taste of what you’ll do:

  • Report to the Chief Operating Officer, but work closely with the CEO, Deputy CEO and Policy Directors. This is a support role - Senior Leadership members will continue to be the primary relationship contact for donors.
  • Help to implement CPD’s new 2024-7 Fundraising Strategy by supporting efforts to diversify our donor base. Prospecting for new philanthropic foundations that are aligned with CPD’s mission will be a major focus for this role. This will include drawing up a list of new potential donors and then mapping out how to approach them.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and stay informed about trends in philanthropy and upcoming opportunities.
  • Assist in drafting communications from CPD to donors and gathering insights to enhance donor relationships and engagement.
  • Help prepare drafts of donor reports and proposals that align with CPD's personalised engagement approach.
  • Draft regular updates on CPD's impact to existing and potential donors, highlighting achievements and outcomes effectively.
  • Help organise private donor events to strengthen relationships and showcase CPD's impact.
  • Assist in improving internal processes for fundraising, including developing more efficient methods for storing and sharing information about donors and communications with funders.

About you

This is an intermediate level position, so we expect the successful candidate to have 3 to 5 years relevant work experience.

You’ll be the right person for the job if you have the following skills:

  • Ability to conduct detailed mapping exercises of foundations and donors to identify key prospects aligned with CPD goals.
  • Excellent written communication skills: capable of delivering compelling messages that articulate CPD’s impact and value proposition to donors.
  • Experience in organising private events such as funder dinners, and coordinating the production of donor reports and proposals.
  • Analytical skills to assess donor data and insights, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Able to work at pace on several different projects and different teams at once.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills. Are able to devise and use systems to record information and deadlines.

Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity

We invite First Nations people, people of colour, people with lived experience of forced migration, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQI+ community, and people without a family history of tertiary education to apply for this role.
