Our Out of Home Care department has recently welcomed a new Executive Manager who has an incredible vision of ensuring that we focus on the quality of services provided. Additionally, the organisation is heavily investing in professional development as we aim to upskill our staff and allow them to grow internally within the organisation.

About the Role:

We are seeking experienced Case Managers to join our culturally diverse and innovative team. The Case Manager, Out of Home Care, will be responsible for securing and nurturing safe home environments, providing case management and support services for children and young people who are unable to live with their families.

Your day to day duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the child/young person’s wellbeing is actively safeguarded and concerns immediately reported
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring children/young people have a safe and stable home environment
  • Assess and support children/young people’s ongoing needs
  • Provide support and supervision to carers and be involved with carer support groups/activities as required
  • Support the development, implementation and review of individual case plans and restoration plans
  • Ensure all records/case notes are accurate and maintained in line with service, legislative, and Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) requirements, including the electronic casework system
  • Be responsible for informing families of the service obligations in relation to child protection, confidentiality and the Privacy Act

At present this role will initially be working from home to ensure safe work practices during the CV19 pandemic. Once restrictions ease and permit, you will be working along side the wider team in our modern and vibrant office located in Bankstown CBD.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (for example Social Work, Psychology or equivalent)
  • Excellent knowledge, understanding and experience of working with families with complex needs and the impact of trauma
  • A well-developed understanding of child protection, the relevant legislation and knowledge of research and theoretical frameworks for working with children and young people
  • Experience in working with children and families from CALD backgrounds
  • Exposure to report writing, using analytical skills
  • A current unrestricted driver’s license and access to a car with comprehensive car insurance (we do have a fleet of cars, though on occasion you may be required to use your own car)
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends

Desirable Criteria:

  • Fluency in another language as well as English would be an advantage though not essential
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Experience of working in Out-of-Home Care

Please note this is a 2-year maximum term contract with the view to renew funding permitting.
