About the team

Our Out of Home Care (OOHC) department has recently welcomed a new Executive Manager who has an incredible vision of ensuring that we focus on the quality of services provided. Additionally, the organisation is heavily investing in professional development as we aim to upskill our staff and allow them to grow internally within the organisation.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Case Manager to join our culturally diverse and innovative team. The Senior Case Manager, Out of Home Care, will be responsible for securing and nurturing safe home environments, providing therapeutic case management and support services for children and young people who are unable to live with their families.

Your day-to-day duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the child/young person’s well being is actively safeguarded and concerns immediately reported;
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring children/young people have a safe, secure and stable home environment;
  • Assess and support children/young people’s ongoing needs;
  • Provide support and supervision to carers and be involved with carer support groups/activities as required;
  • Support the development, implementation and review of individual case plans and restoration plans;
  • Ensure all records/case notes are accurate and maintained in line with service, legislative, and Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) requirements, including the electronic casework system;
  • Working in a strength based solution focused framework.
  • Be responsible for informing families of the service obligations in relation to child protection, confidentiality and the Privacy Act.

Role remuneration is banded at level 5 on the SCHADS award.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant degree qualification (i.e. Social Work, Psychology or equivalent);
  • Extensive OOHC/PSP case management experience, particularly with children and young people with complex needs impacted by developmental trauma;
  • A well-developed understanding of the child protection system, the relevant legislation and knowledge of research and theoretical frameworks for working with vulnerable children and young people;
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting colleagues to improve practice outcomes, including ability to facilitate group supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change
  • Experience working with children and families from CALD backgrounds;
  • Highly developed communication skills, engagement and report writing and analytical skills;
  • A current unrestricted driver’s license and access to a car with comprehensive car insurance (we do have a fleet of cars, though on occasion you may be required to use your own car);
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends when required.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Fluency in another language as well as English would be an advantage though not essential;
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain;
