Creating Links has implemented a Therapeutic Care Framework that has been designed to enable and support children, young people and their families in their healing journey. The Model of Practice has been implemented to guide clinical and operational casework processes that is responsive to the individual needs of children, young people, their families, and caregivers. We aim to achieve this by providing all children and young people within our service with a safe, positive and permanent care environment that, together with agency supports, will address the complex impact of trauma, abuse, neglect, separation and other forms of adversity. As we understand that early trauma and adversity in life, impact neurophysiological, cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural functioning.

Through investing in our workforce and having skilled team members we can achieve our ultimate goal of providing quality therapeutic services to assist children and young people to see their future self through sustainable connections that allow for integration, and positive interactivity, with their family structure, culture and communities

In the past few months, he has recruited and refreshed the Executive Leadership who are highly motived, staff, client and carer centric. With our refreshed leadership we are excited to be kicking off our new organisational strategy in 2022!

About your work environment

Recently the OOHC business unit welcomed a new Executive Manager who has already started implementing her incredible vision. The vision is to strengthen our existing foundations allowing us to exemplify excellence in therapeutic centric services.

About the Role

While our Case Managers are ultimately responsible for securing and nurturing safe home environments, we believe in enhancing the opportunities to have positive impacts on the kids we care for. Our Case Managers provide therapeutic case management and support services for children and young people who are unable to live with their families.

The remuneration for this role is at level 5 within the SCHADS award. Additionally, you will receive PBI tax benefits increasing your take home pay.

Our roles are initially set for a 3-year contracted period due to funding. Though these roles are contracted with the view to renew funding permitting. As we’ve been operating for over 50 years and we plan to continue being an innovative organisation, we intend to continue renewing contracts and are seeking a workforce who can help us realise our refreshed vision.

Your typical day would generally involve:

  • Ensuring the child/young person’s well being is actively safeguarded and concerns immediately reported;
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring children/young people have a safe, secure and stable home environment;
  • Assess and support children/young people’s ongoing needs;
  • Provide support and supervision to carers and be involved with carer support groups/activities as required;
  • Support the development, implementation and review of individual case plans and restoration plans;
  • Ensure all records/case notes are accurate and maintained in line with service, legislative, and Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) requirements, including the electronic casework system;
  • Working in a strength based solution focused framework.
  • Be responsible for informing families of the service obligations in relation to child protection, confidentiality and the Privacy Act.

To achieve this Creating Links works within a Multi-Systemic Therapeutic Approach drawing upon the philosophies of:

  • The ARC Therapeutic Model (Attachment-Regulation-Competency)
  • Attachment Theory
  • Neuro-Psychological Developmental Model
  • Organisational Congruence Theories, to ensure accountability and consistency in our therapeutic approach across all aspects of care for children and young people
  • Outcome Monitoring systems, to demonstrate evidence-based practice.

So we can set you up for success in your journey with us, we’d need you to have the following:

  • Relevant qualification or experience in (i.e. Social Work, Psychology or equivalent);
  • Extensive OOHC/PSP case management experience, particularly with children and young people with complex needs impacted by developmental trauma;
  • A well-developed understanding of the child protection system, the relevant legislation and knowledge of research and theoretical frameworks for working with vulnerable children and young people;
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting colleagues to improve practice outcomes, including ability to facilitate group supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change
  • Experience working with children and families from CALD backgrounds;
  • Highly developed communications skills, engagement and report writing and analytical skills;
  • A current driver’s license;
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends when required.

If would be incredible if you had any of the following:

  • Fluency in another language as well as English;
  • First Aid Certificate.
