Creating Links has implemented a Therapeutic Care Framework that has been designed to enable and support children, young people and their families in their healing journey. The Model of Practice has been implemented to guide clinical and operational casework processes that is responsive to the individual needs of children, young people, their families, and caregivers. We aim to achieve this by providing all children and young people within our service with a safe, positive and permanent care environment that, together with agency supports, will address the complex impact of trauma, abuse, neglect, separation and other forms of adversity. As we understand that early trauma and adversity in life, impact neurophysiological, cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural functioning.

About your work environment

Recently the OOHC business unit welcomed a new Executive Manager who has already started implementing her incredible vision. The vision is to strengthen our existing foundations allowing us to exemplify excellence in therapeutic centric services.

About the Role

Providing leadership, supervision and management for a team of experienced Case Managers your focus will be to identify, provide and monitor safe foster home placements for children and young people, and build capacity to support carers.

The Team Leader is responsible, alongside the OOHC Senior Manager, for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of a high-quality placement and support services for children and young people who are unable to live with their families. This role is to also oversee the ongoing professional development and support of foster and kinship carers.

Our roles are initially set for a 3-year contracted period due to funding. Though these roles are contracted with the view to renew funding permitting. As we’ve been operating for over 50 years and we plan to continue being an innovative organisation, we intend to continue renewing contracts and are seeking a workforce who can help us realise our refreshed vision.

Your typical day would generally involve:

  • Provide practice guidance and regular supervision and support to staff
  • Oversee staff workload and case management activities
  • Ensure all records and case notes are accurate and maintained in line with the Creating Links policies and procedures and the NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care
  • Review and manage placement referrals
  • Safeguard the safety of children and young people in placement
  • Prepare reports to funding bodies as required
  • Oversee and authorise contingency payments in accordance with case management plans and budgets
  • Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and community groups

So we can set you up for success in your journey with us, we’d need you to have the following:

  • Tertiary/Diploma qualifications in a social welfare field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in case management, preferable in Child Protection or Out of Home Care
  • Demonstrated skills to undertake the supervision and leadership of a case management team, including formal supervision
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the management of Out of Home Care services, particular understanding of developmental trauma and brain development
  • Experience in working with CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families
  • Demonstrated involvement in establishing, leading and maintaining partnerships with the community and stakeholders
  • Experience in managing financial resources and budgetary procedures and processes
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in quality improvement processes, data collection, management and accreditation
  • Ability to work flexibly within a changing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Work, Health and Safety
  • Current unrestricted Driver's Licence

  • Fluency in another language as well as English
  • Previous experience or knowledge of working with ‘practice groups’ or ‘communities of practice’
