Salary commensurate with experience, maximum $85,000 p/a pro-rata plus 10% superannuation guarantee.

About the Role:

The Fundraising and Business Development Manager provides a critical role in achieving sustainable revenue growth, long term partnerships and diversified streams of income for CuriousWorks.

You will develop the organisation’s partnership and fundraising plan and pipeline (including major donors, grassroots donations, foundations and government grants) and drive its implementation to deliver growth against the planned budget. You will also explore social enterprise business opportunities, corporate partnerships and workplace giving. Direct involvement with collateral development, communications and events is required.

We seek a dynamic, inspired individual who can build a case for support and showcase and convey the impact of the activities and purpose of CuriousWorks.

You will have the knowledge and experience to create and implement a long-term fundraising strategy that includes acquisition, conversion and stewardship. You will also forge new partnerships and negotiate contracts and job opportunities that allow the company's digital media expertise and social enterprise program to be leveraged as cleverly and effectively as possible, in both arts and non-arts sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for existing, lapsed and new major donors and philanthropic funding bodies and maintain and grow an active pipeline of prospects for major donors.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to acquire grassroots donations, including working with the Communications Officer and Creative Producer to deliver grassroots campaigns through social media.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to build the Social Enterprise Program, including actively promoting the program to target clients and implementing strategic partnership campaigns to build the business/ clientele.
  • Explore a strategy to acquire corporate partners and secure ongoing donations through workplace giving programs.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and updating of a partnerships and fundraising database (Salesforce) with effective management of donor and partner communication.
  • Identify and secure new potential partnerships of shared value.
  • Prepare key presentations, write reports and cases for support.
  • Plan and host events with the CEO, Creative Director and Management Committee, to attract and retain both donors and partners.
  • Ability to strategically assess opportunities against organisational capacity.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop business/corporate and non-profit relationships that are aligned with the CuriousWorks, and that support and grow the delivery of CuriousWorks programs.
  • Identify new opportunities for growth within existing CuriousWorks programs in conjunction with the Creative Director and CEO.
  • Keep up to date on fundraising best practice and sector trends.

Key Experience and Knowledge Areas:

  • A proven track record of success in major gifts and/or grassroots fundraising.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in similar fundraising position.
  • Donor acquisition experience, successfully converting leads into major gifts, donor stewardship and management.
  • Knowledge and professional experience in the arts, film or creative industries.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills.
  • Interest in and engagement with key social and creative issues effecting Western Sydney.
  • Experience in working in a small collaborative team.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills and the ability to multitask and set priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in grant writing and reporting.
  • Experience using Salesforce CRM an advantage.
