THE ROLE

The Family & Domestic Violence Coordinated Response Service (FDVCRS) role is responsible for providing triage for people experiencing family and domestic violence. This involves working alongside the Police, Department of Communities and Child Protection. The role is co-located with the child protection and police as part of the Family and Domestic Violence Team.

  • Responsible for participating in the joint assessment of DVIRs using the Family and Domestic Violence Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework
  • Participate in triaging of DVIRS and jointly deciding with the Department of Child Protection co-located worker and Police DV Unit on appropriate responses
  • Participate in the coordination of multi-agency case management as required for high-risk cases
  • Provide responses to families that are allocated to the FDVCRS through the assessment, referral, information, advocacy, support and safety planning and support to obtain Violence Restraining Orders
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies
  • Provide referrals to enable victims with or without children to link with services that meet their needs
  • Provide accurate relevant information, support, advocacy and/or referral to victims, which can include transport, court support and any other appropriate support/advocacy for the family

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

  • Relevant qualification in social work, psychology, community services and/or a related human services field.
  • At least two years’ experience in a family violence or related role.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of family violence including impacts on children and young people and young homeless women’s issues in accordance with service philosophies.
  • Extensive experience in providing case work to individuals and/or families experiencing complex needs and risk issues including a sound knowledge of referral pathways.
  • Extensive knowledge of family violence risk assessment and management frameworks.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and cooperatively within a team, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, Aboriginal cultural safety.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the varying needs of people who have a disability or come from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, LGBTIQ communities and other groups that may experience intersectional oppressions.
  • High‐level communication skills (both oral and written) with the capacity to prepare reports, case notes and correspondence in a clear and concise language and the ability to assimilate information from varied sources.
  • Demonstrated information technology skills with the ability to accurately maintain electronic client files, ability to use a range of modern technology equipment, and adapt to new software and multiple platforms.
  • Sound interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a professional manner with a wide range of clients and service providers, including working cooperatively in a multi‐disciplinary team to enhance teamwork, support client’s needs and their best interests.

REGISTRATIONS AND LICENCES REQUIRED

  • National Police Clearance – no older than 3 months
  • Current WA Driver’s license
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Proof of right to work in Australia (Passport, Birth Certificate, Visa)
  • Current First Aid certificate (including CPR)
