With a well-respected reputation based on over 30 years of providing safe crisis accommodation services, the Patricia Giles Centre for Non-Violence is the lead Not for Profit organisation operating in the Northern suburbs offering Crisis Accommodation, Housing Support, Outreach, and Counselling & Advocacy services for families affected by FDV and homelessness.

The role

Working within a small, client-focused team delivering high quality case management for families across our service offering. 76 hours per fortnight, this role is currently funded until June 30 2021. We expect funding to continue and the date to be extended accordingly.

To be successful you will need

Tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Science, Counselling, or other relevant human service qualification.

Demonstrated relevant work experience with crisis accommodation service provision within the FDV, Mental Health or Homelessness sector.

Experience providing a trauma informed response to individuals and families affected by or experiencing FDV.

In addition we are seeking demonstrated experience in:

• Working on cross-cultural issues and skills to work with people from all backgrounds in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner
• Supporting families to achieve positive outcomes in an FDV context
• Understanding of contemporary family issues including FDV; the physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse; homelessness; child protection; poverty; mental health; the use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs, and knowledge of support services available to address these issues
• Well-developed, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

As well as:

• Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to PGCNV's vision, mission and values
• Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team in which you work, along with the wider organisation and collaborative community of providers in which we work
• Ability to engage with individuals with different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship
• Knowledge and understanding of diversity, gender and social inclusion, particularly Aboriginal culture
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft office and client reporting systems

Registrations and Licenses required

• National Police Clearance – no older than 3 months
• Current WA Driver's license
• Current Working with Children Check

• Current First Aid certificate
