We provide priority access to those most at risk of health inequalities and those that may face barriers to accessing traditional health services.

About the role

Your Community Health is seeking an enthusiastic General Practitioner - Trans and Gender Diverse Health, to join the Medical Services team.

The General Practitioner will work as part of a unique and exciting health initiative; providing LGBTIQ+ inclusive health care, with a focus on Trans and Gender Diverse affirmative health care services that reflect and serve the needs of community.

Your passion and commitment will see you provide quality primary care, sexual health and gender affirming medical services for people who identify as LGBTIQ+, including:

  • Mental health
  • Sexual health
  • Hormone management
  • Preventative health care and chronic disease management
  • As the primary provider, support patients to initiate hormone therapy

Mentoring and additional training in LGBTIQ+ inclusive and Trans and Gender Diverse affirmative health care is provided.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • AHPRA registration
  • A commitment to the principles of community development, volunteerism and participatory management of community based organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of general practice and/or sexual health medical services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the delivery of medical services and client care using a holistic, patient centred approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • provide medically related information to clients within a model of empowerment and personal development.
    • participate in research and clinical trials, including data collection processes and data analysis.
    • work with a multi-disciplinary team
  • A demonstrated commitment to the implementation of human rights and social justice principles, to industrial democracy and respect for people in the workplace.
  • Well-developed communication skills, including the capacity to successfully build relationships and manage challenging situations
