About the Role

Volunteering is a crucial aspect of our Darebin community. It contributes to the community’s social wellbeing through connection, participation, and by supporting community services delivered by Council. If delivered with integrity, goodwill and fairness volunteering can provide our community members with a sense of purpose, support job readiness and provide an opportunity to acquire valuable workplace skills.

As part of our dedicated People & Culture team, the Volunteer Programs Officer will partner with relevant stakeholders across the organisation and the wider community to design and deliver a dedicated volunteer program, including a framework to support volunteer recruitment, program governance, partnerships and events.

  • With support, develop and deliver an innovative and fit for purpose Volunteer program
  • Design and implement resources to support volunteer engagement
  • Partner to provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish and and cultivating cultivate partnerships with key community organisations

About You

  • A team attitude with a strong customer service focus
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting and/or working with volunteers
  • Project management skills including the ability to plan, report and monitor implementation of the volunteer program
  • Highly developed communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
  • Comfortable in creating frameworks, tools and guides
  • Values consistent with the organisation and in-turn will ensure the realisation of an inclusive volunteer program which engages volunteers from diverse backgrounds including people with a disability, from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, people who identify as LGBTQI+ and many more

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a relevant degree, with previous, relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in recruiting/working with volunteers
  • Knowledge of National Standards for Involving Volunteers in Not-For-Profit Organisations
  • Ability to consult and interact positively and widely with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Highly developed written and verbal skills, including strong communication skills and the ability to write and present correspondence and project scoping documents
