The Organisation

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation making a difference to many lives across Gippsland. Providing programs and services that support Indigenous women, children, men, young people, and same sex couples affected by family violence.

The preferred location for this position is Sale, but they have two other East Gippsland locations open to negotiation. Travel may be required across the catchment area.

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced, qualified counsellor to join their team to deliver client focused, trauma informed approach to healing. The successful applicant will work closely with clients to develop individualised intervention and support plans and referrals. Providing crisis intervention and support to those who have experienced family violence or assault.

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with clients to develop individualised care plans
  • Provide crisis support for clients who have experienced family violence
  • Ensure delivery of all services are culturally safe and within professional framework, undertaking risk assessments and implementing appropriate strategies to manage risk
  • Maintain client records, inputting case notes and data daily
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Monthly Clinical Supervision with external provider
  • Actively maintain professional knowledge and skills with an evidence-based approach
  • Participate and incorporate continuous improvement and risk management principles
  • Be familiar with and abide by OH&S procedures and processes
  • Work proactively with all team members

So, if you have…

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Social Welfare or equivalent
  • Minimal 2 years’ experience in recent counselling role, working with a variety of age groups within a therapeutic setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a similar role
  • Understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal Culture
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Proficient in a variety of software including client management packages
