MACS and Diversitat have been serving the Geelong community for more than 40 years with a focus on our multicultural communities. As the new entity, Cultura operates across various sites delivering a range of services including residential aged care, home care and aged support services, settlement, training and education, financial counselling and disability support. We also operate a range of social enterprises including The Pulse community radio and various community events including the popular Pako Festa.

The Role:

Cultura currently operates several family violence prevention initiatives and is seeking to recruit a Project Worker to lead its Room to Grow program.

Key aspects of the Project Worker role include coordinating the use of a Women’s Space for women experiencing or are at risk of Family Violence and developing or enhancing community networks and/or services that support the identified needs of these women.

About You:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence and a sound understanding of the evidence base around violence prevention;
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with communities from a migrant, asylum seeker and refugee background;
  • Strong community engagement, empowerment and capacity building skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in co-designing and delivering creative programs with diverse communities;
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with individuals and groups;
  • Demonstrated understanding of intersectionality and the capacity to apply an intersectional framework to gender equity and the prevention of violence against women.
