  • Hours of Work: Fixed-term full-time day work ASAP to 30 June 2022

About the Team

Children, Youth and Families (CYF) provides integrated programs that support all children, young people, and their families in Tasmania. Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS) provides a professional and specialised service to assist children, young people and adults affected by family violence. We work with a range of services across government and the community sector. FVCSS is part of the Safe at Home initiative: a Tasmanian whole of government response to family violence.

About You

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, to succeed long term in this role you should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Genuine motivation and passion to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team in FVCSS
  • Strong interpersonal and written skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of people from all walks of life.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively, whilst maintaining a high quality of care
  • Knowledge and understanding of family violence trauma, its impacts on children and young people and the application of appropriate models of intervention
  • Completed a qualification from a relevant field of study
  • Align to our workplace values; Kind, Connected, Committed, Respectful

Duties Include

  • Assist children and young people to recover from their experience of family violence trauma through the delivery of evidence based and family violence trauma informed therapeutic counselling and support. This will include a range of developmental and age appropriate techniques and tools within a counselling/therapeutic setting.
  • Contribute to and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and group sessions.
  • Assess and monitor the ongoing risk and safety needs of children and young people who access the service.
  • Provide information, support, referral and advice to clients and other service providers.

Essential Requirements:

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (Employment type)
  • University acquired degree or diploma in a humanities field
