Conditions of Employment:

  • Salary: $96,689 to $107,629 pro rata per annum + 10% Superannuation
  • Classification: AHP Level 3
  • Award/Agreement: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement
  • Location: South
  • Hours of Work: Fixed-term full-time day work ASAP for a period of up to 12 months (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation)
  • Please note: Other permanent and fixed-term full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise in the future may also be filled from this process.

About the Team

Children, Youth and Families (CYF) provides integrated programs that support all children, young people, and their families in Tasmania, this includes Community Youth Justice Services. We work in partnership with government and non-government organisations, using trauma informed practice, to maximise a young person’s potential and participation in the community.

This role supports the practice framework and development of our Youth Workers.

About You

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, to succeed long term in this role you should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Significant post graduate experience in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, supervision, and direction to staff to meet and improve service delivery
  • High level of strategic, conceptual and creative skills with the ability to understand the social and political environment.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with a range of clients from different backgrounds, the ability to adapt your communication style
  • Knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire, of statutory requirements and Departmental procedures
  • Genuine motivation and commitment to work health and safety, equal employment opportunity and continual quality improvement
  • Demonstrated management skills with the ability to co-ordinate, financial, human and physical resources

Duties Include:

  • Provide day to day practical guidance, professional leadership, supervision and direction to members of a professional team, including the provision of expert advice and assistance to team members and as required, act as a consultant to other stakeholders on complex casework issues.
  • In consultation with the Area Manager, ensure that financial management, service delivery, administrative and statutory standards are met.
  • Ensure that service objectives, policies and priorities are met effectively and efficiently to secure desired outcomes. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policy and divisional strategies.

Essential Requirements:

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (Employment type)
  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  • Conviction checks in the following areas:
    • a) crimes of violence
    • b) sex related offences
    • c) serious drug offences
    • d) crimes involving dishonesty
    • e) serious traffic offences
  • Identification check
  • Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

COVID-19 Vaccination: As a result of a risk assessment process the Head of Agency considered where vaccination is a necessary control to protect the health and safety of workers and the community and therefore it has been determined that prior to appointment to these duties a person to is to provide evidence that they are vaccinated against the disease known as COVID-19.

Desirable Requirements: Current Drivers Licence
