Our work in Forensic Intervention Services (FIS) starts with the belief that every person has the capacity to change and deserves the opportunity to make that change. By building connections with people who have based on trust, professionalism, and empathy, we enable people who have committed violent and sexual offences to address their behaviour and develop insights that lead to better choices and a more constructive role in the community at the end of their order or sentence.

Underpinning this important work is our extensive clinical research program that informs ongoing innovation and development of our service models, assessment tools, intervention programs and frameworks.

Led by highly respected leaders with a clear vision, we are transforming the way clinical forensic intervention is delivered in Australia and are fast gaining national and international recognition.

We are in a period of exciting growth with a number of new clinical opportunities. Right now, we are looking for a Clinical Projects Lead to help drive our research program.

The key aspects of the role include:

  • Support the effective and consistent delivery of interventions across Victoria and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the proactive and strategic research and evaluation agenda to build internal evidence-based knowledge of the impact of therapeutic interventions. 
  • Drive Forensic Intervention Services Imitative, innovations and research questions working in conjunction with academic researchers. 
  • Develop ongoing improvements to research and evaluation frameworks.

How we’ll support you

Who we’re looking for

If applying your experience and passion for clinical research to making our community safer draws on your values and is important to you, this work will challenge and reward you.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Experience in managing complex research and evaluation processes within complex service systems
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and investigate appropriate quantitative and qualitative research questions
  • Effective communication and stakeholder capability

Eligibility

You’ll need to hold (or be eligible for) one of the following:

  • General registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Be registered as a nurse and be eligible to be credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse
  • Be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
  • Specialist training and/or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical or forensic field

Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include national police checks and misconduct screening. You will also need to possess a current Victorian driver’s licence.

A division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services provides clinical services to people who have offended. We employ evidence-based screening, assessment and offence-specific intervention services to support a person’s strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.
