BACKGROUND:

The Pacific Island Food Revolution (PIFR) is an innovative three-year pilot program that promotes healthy Pacific food and lifestyles by applying behaviour change principles to the power of popular media. It is currently funded by the Australian and New Zealand governments, with implementation in four core countries: Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga and Samoa. Nearing the end of the current pilot phase, PIFR is now transitioning from a donor-funded program to its own legal entity, initially based in New Zealand with plans to open branches in the Pacific in the short-to-medium term.

THE ROLE:

We are currently seeking an Operations and Finance Manager to join the Pacific Island Food Revolution. As the program gears up for this transition, it is seeking an experienced, motivated and innovative thinker to lead the set-up of the new entity and ensure its financial sustainability over the medium-to-long term.

The Operations and Finance Manager will be responsible for leading the process of establishing the new PIFR charitable entity in New Zealand, including company registration, governance and the development of PIFR business policies and procedures. This will include start-up, coordination and oversight of all business operations, finance, procurement and human resource management. He/she will provide senior level support and high-level coordination to PIFR, including fundraising arrangements, contributing to strategy, sustainability and monitoring of impact.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (international development, business, accounting or equivalent); post graduate qualifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and managing business/project systems and processes and compliance effectively; experience in innovation/business start-up would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in finance and operations management, preferably in the international development sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing procurements, contracts and sub-contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multicultural teams remotely.
  • Knowledge and experience working in the Pacific, including experience working in diverse, cross-cultural environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player, self-directed, organised, sound judgement and flexible.
  • Understanding of international donors in particular the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade policies and compliance would be an advantage.
  • Must have work rights in New Zealand.
