The Impact21 Employment Program is a one-of- a-kind job readiness program for adults with Down syndrome or intellectual disability. Tailored for those aged 22 and up, the 24-month program is designed to equip students with the tools they need to forge their own unique career pathways.

Through Impact21 students will obtain a custom role in a national company, earning award wage. The program promotes social and civic inclusion, encourages greater independence, and grows students’ work skills.

the role:

Reporting directly to the Lead Employer Liaison, the Employer Support & Training Officer will provide support to employers during employment readiness and employment support phases of the program. This role will start as three days per week with a view to progress to four days per week in the future.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Support with development of training materials and resources
  • Support with development and delivery of engaging inclusion confidence training sessions to employers
  • Under direction from the Lead Employer Liaison; schedule, plan, coordinate logistics and deliver employer engagement activities; orientation sessions, task tasters, job tasters, internships
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure the efficient and timely exchange of information and the achievement of employer engagement activities.
  • Support with social media activities and content development.
  • Maintain accurate, appropriate and timely documentation for all activities.
  • Support of participant on-going support arrangements with the DES provider, employer, and support network
  • Administrative tasks including but not limited to; coordinate regular employer meetings, and take meeting minutes
  • Support with contributing to program updates for relevant stakeholders; employers, participants, families
  • Other ad hoc duties as required, as directed by Lead Employer Liaison

The ideal person for this position will possess the following:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Three years’ experience in a relevant discipline such as employee counselling, human resources, community engagement, communications, project management, social impact or entrepreneurship
  • Experience developing and delivering workplace training
  • Knowledge and experience delivering training on disability inclusion is highly desirable
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities with high expectations of achieving independence and sustainable employment goals
  • Experience working in an agile, fast moving, multiple stakeholder, collaborative solutions-oriented environment
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (Employee).

  • A passion for (and/or experience) working with people with disability
  • A commitment to human rights and inclusion
  • Highly developed relationship building capabilities and ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong presentation skills, oral and written
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
