Who we're looking for

If you're a Counsellor, qualified in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or a related field with eligibility for registration with AASW or other professional counselling association, enjoy variety in your day, and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we're looking for!

As part of our Counselling, Assessment and Support Team (CAST) at Ferntree Gully, EACH is looking for a customer-centric Counsellor to provide a variety of counselling and casework frameworks suitable for a 6-session model of counselling with both women and men within the Knox Municipality. You'll be an exceptional communicator with sound coordination and a strong commitment to quality client service provision, excellence and innovation in work practices.

This role will be offered on a part-time basis, 8 days a fortnight until 31 December 2022.

What you'll be doing

Each day will be varied and highly collaborative. You will provide;

  • high quality coordinated therapeutic counselling and casework services tailored to meet the health needs of the community, with an emphasis on providing rapid response and short-term counselling
  • face to face counselling or telehealth counselling
  • screening for family violence (MARAM), mental health concerns and substance use issues
  • services that are culturally sensitive to minority groups of people including indigenous, CALD and LGBTIQ

You will collaborate with your team and outside networks to enhance your clients care on issues such as mental health, family violence, drug and alcohol and child safe practices. You will also be involved in the wider Knox community to participate in local health promotion activities which could involve speaking and attending local network meetings as well as facilitating groups in the community.

Who you'll be working with

Reporting to the Team Leader, Counselling and Assessment Team (CAST), you will be supported by a large team of health service professionals with varied backgrounds who work across services such as Adult, Child, Family and Family Violence counselling, Integrated Family Services, Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Counselling, Access to Early Learning Program and Art Therapy.
