About the role

The Municipal Services Supervisor will be responsible for delivering effective and quality services related to waste management, parks and gardens, cemetery maintenance, local road maintenance and various other Council infrastructure works within Umbakumba Community.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Trade or tertiary qualifications or substantive industry experience in a related discipline (i.e. Environmental Management, Mechanic, Horticulture, Plant Operation, Training).
  • Sound management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively lead, train, mentor and motivate staff to achieve high quality outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including high level written and oral communication, mediation, negotiation and analytical skills with an ability to relate appropriately to staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a safe working environment and to ensure that all Workplace Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications for roads and drainage works.

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

  • Previous experience working or living within an Indigenous setting and ability to demonstrate a high level of cross cultural awareness in the workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people (or demonstrated commitment to learn) to effectively participate in a cross cultural environment, and a keenness to mentor and train Indigenous people wherever practical.

NOTE: The successful applicant must hold a MR, Backhoe and Skid Steer Loader License. They must also be willing to travel to EARC communities by various means including single engine aircraft, boat and 4WD.

The successful applicant will also need to undergo a Criminal History Check and Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless its relevant to the position.

In accordance with the NT Chief Health Officer’s Direction No. 55, COVID–19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement for all EARC employees from 13th November 2021.

What you'll get in return

A full time permanent position receiving a base salary of $84,632.48 plus locality allowance. You will benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading, and subsidised accommodation will be available in Umbakumba Community, where you can expect to pay $75 per week, plus utilities. Relocation and repatriation assistance will be available to the successful applicant.
