To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Aged Care and Disability Industries including current Aged Care reforms and the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and implementing Aged and Disability programs including CHSP, HCP, NATSIFAC and NDIS services in a remote Indigenous context.
  • Must have a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aged Care and/or Disability Services and/or other tertiary qualification relevant to the position.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, supporting, mentoring and building the capacity of coordinators and staff to achieve improved service delivery.
  • Financial management skills and the ability to interpret financial information and manage external funding and reporting requirements.
  • Advanced oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, including the ability to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders and constructively manage conflict.
  • Sound knowledge of issues affecting Indigenous people in remote locations and ability to operate effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Must hold a current manual C Class Driver’s License

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

  • Previous experience working or living within an Indigenous setting and ability to demonstrate a high level of cross cultural awareness in the workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people to ensure effective participation in a cross-cultural environment.

NOTE: The preferred applicant must be able to travel to remote communities on a regular basis via light aircraft and/or 4WD vehicle. The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and obtain a Working with Children Clearance. NB: Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.

What you'll get in return:

A full time temporary (6 months) position receiving an hourly rate of $61.07. You will benefit from pro-rata annual leave with 17.5% leave loading and subsidised accommodation will be available in Nhulunbuy Community where you can expect to pay $75 per week plus utilities. Relocation and Repatriation assistance is also available.
