Our principal clients are those from organisations with Employee Assistance Programs, we have over 250 of those and each year, in the NT alone, we provide over 10,000 client sessions. EASA also responds to potentially traumatising situations by mobilising our clinicians, which may mean flights to remote communities or attending local workplaces.EASA is part of the welfare emergency response group in the NT, providing support to group members during local disasters such as flooding and cyclonic events. CORP, a part of EASA, allows us to put our learning and care into preventative work with organisations and we provide educational opportunities to workplaces and support services that aim to increase skills for mentally health workplaces and reduce conflict. This includes leadership development and support.

What is the role?

A rewarding role exists in a small and friendly team of counsellors/office administrator for a nexperienced, flexible and growth oriented leader in Alice Springs.

This can be either of two entries, early career clinician/leader who would like to grow into the role commencing with coaching support and graduated responsibility or an experienced small team leader.

  • Salary range – dependent upon either growth position or fully qualified $80,000-$105,000

General Role

  • Manage a counselling caseload providing short term counselling for individuals across a broad range of issues including trauma, work related problems, relationship and family difficulties, grief, depression, anxiety, emotional stress, alcohol and other drug misuse, or other personal problems
  • Supervise the counselling team in Alice Springs according to APS standards
  • Ensure best practice and quality services
  • Respond to and receive client feedback
  • Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional development to keep current in the latest psychological trends and developments, providing advice internally on market trends and industry professional standards
  • Develop and maintain a high standard of professional working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Provide EAP briefings and deliver report feedback to designated organisations, flexibility in this is important
  • Undertake a commitment to EASA on call service provision and critical incident response team
  • Provide client referrals where appropriate
  • Conduct psychological assessments and write psychological reports
  • Undertake a commitment to engage in projects such as onsite and remote area service delivery
  • Engage in on-going professional training and development including reading in the field of counselling, trauma interventions and other relevant training, an allowance of $3,000 per year and time off is allocated for individual’s professional development, plus regular group professional development in-house
  • Develop and deliver training in the area of psychological services
  • Undertake travel throughout the NT and Australia as required
  • Contribute to minimal reporting such as a Board report or as required
  • Participate in performance, planning and review process
  • Performance of the above duties in accordance with EASA policies and procedures

Is this a good fit for you?

Not limited to but before you apply, we need you to have:

  • Approved tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling, eligible for membership with APHRA/AASW/ACA or equivalent
  • Good counselling skills and experience with a broad range of clients and the use of broad range of interventions for good outcomes in short-term counselling.
  • Current Police Check & Ochre Card
  • Current Driving Licence

Further for full role:

  • Considerable demonstrated small team leadership experience including the provision of supervision and client/organisation liaison Psychological Testing may form part of the recruitment process

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in managing a small team or looking to undertake a leadership position as the next step in their professional development
  • A Registered Supervisor for Intern Psychologists or supervision experience
