Family Skills Facilitator - Angurugu

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE :

To provide intensive, targeted and coordinated support for parents/caregivers and children who are vulnerable, at risk or in disadvantaged communities and to improve child development, child safety and family functioning by strengthening community capacity.In conjunction with the Anglicare NT East Arnhem Communities for Children initiative, this position will work alongside communities in Groote Eylandt to support family and community engagement and to strengthen community capacity.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following :

  • Relevant qualification/experience in social science, community development, early childhood or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work respectfully and inclusively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse people.
  • Ability to build sound relationships with families by providing information, assistance and support.
  • Ability to undertake meaningful consultations and support two-way learning approaches.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience in working in a family support focused program in an effective and culturally competent way.
  • Excellent communication skills and high level report writing, administration and database skills.
  • NT Driver Licence with the ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle.

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

  • Previous experience working or living within an Indigenous setting and ability to demonstrate a high level of cross cultural awareness in the workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people to ensure effective participation in a cross-cultural environment.

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a Criminal History Check and obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.

WHAT YOU'LL GET IN RETURN:

A full time permanent receiving a salary of $75,930.13. You will benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading. Subsidised accommodation will be provided to the successful candidate, where you will pay $75 per week rent plus utilities. Relocation and Repatriation assistance is also available.
