About ECLC

For 45 years, Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC) has been working with communities across the eastern suburbs of Melbourne to resolve legal problems, advocate for people’s rights, improve the legal justice system, and alleviate socio-economic disadvantage.

Everything ECLC does is helping it achieve its vision of a community that respects and upholds human rights, fairness and justice.

ECLC offers free legal and other services to priority communities through a skilled multidisciplinary workforce of staff and volunteers which include advocates, community lawyers, financial counsellors, intake specialists, paralegals, social workers and program, management and policy professionals. ECLC works with communities and community members living in Boroondara, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Whitehorse, and Yarra Ranges.

ECLC helps priority people and communities that would otherwise not have access to a lawyer, whilst prioritising services and targeting programs to those who experience acute disadvantage.

About the role

The Shared Services (Office) Manager will be an integral member of a highly supportive People and Shared Services team, providing operational support across a growing and dynamic not-for-profit organisation.

This varied role requires a range of skills to support a smooth running office, ensuring everyone has what they need to focus on their job, and promote a collaborative, safe and efficient work environment. The ‘office’ is also viewed as more than its physical space, with the role also responsible for supporting a hybrid working model and a digital workforce.

About You

We are seeking an experienced and flexible person, who ‘can make things happen’, with a high degree of initiative and a proactive mindset.

You will be a compassionate and empathetic person, who engages well with others, and who oversees the well-being and efficiency of both staff and the office environment.

As an organisation embracing the digital workplace, you will love all things technology that improves efficiency and flexibility and enhances the employee experience; as such, you will have the passion, patience and capability to promote adoption and user-level support alongside your team.

You will have supreme organisation skills, able to anticipate needs and effectively manage tasks and deadlines while maintaining a high degree of self-awareness, resilience and professionalism.

Specifically, you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role, preferably within NFP/community sector; tertiary qualifications desirable (for example, in relevant administrative/business management studies)
  • Highly organised, with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise work
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly developed interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels, building trust and fostering relationships quickly and maintaining discretion and integrity at all times
  • Advanced IT skills, with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Office suite, knowledge of CMS platforms desirable, with an aptitude to learn new software and systems
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and planning capabilities
  • Demonstrated people management skills
  • Ability to work proactively and independently, with minimal direction, and as part of a collaborative team

This position is based at ECLC’s Box Hill/Boronia locations. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, this role may include working from home arrangements. Working remotely, you will be expected to have exceptional communication and the ability to build positive relationships to support your role.

If you have any questions regarding the role, please contact Emma Pryce-Baxter on 0435 117 970.
