Finance Officer - Lancefield

About Us:

Edgar’s Mission is a not for profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans. Set on 153 peaceable acres situated just outside of Lancefield, the sanctuary is nestled in the tranquillity of the Macedon Ranges.

Edgar’s Mission rescues and provides sanctuary to farmed animals in need, currently providing lifelong love and care to over 450 rescued animals. Through education, outreach, advocacy, community enrichment and sanctuary tours, we encourage people to expand their circle of compassion to include all animals.

Position Primary Purpose:

To contribute to the work of Edgar’s Mission by maintaining accurate financial records and administering timely and accurate payroll and accounting systems. This role supports the General Manager, Director and Board in budget preparation and financial reporting, as well as meeting the organisation’s statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. Some administrative duties, database and records management are also responsibilities of this position.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Assist with the finance activities for the business including the development of annual budgets and forecasts

  • Prepare high quality, accurate, and timely financial performance reporting at the request of the General Manager, Director and Board

  • Processing and reconciling weekly payroll for all employees

  • Ensure all PAYG & payroll tax returns are lodged and paid on time

  • Superannuation processing and payments

  • Accounts payable and receivable

  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS returns and Financial Statements

  • Assists in the preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Variance Analysis and Cash flow reports

  • Overseeing the preparation and lodgement of statutory reporting and income tax obligations

  • Insurance renewals – ensuring insurances are up to date and offer good value for money

  • Compliance with legislative and statutory requirements

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of information provided

  • Compliance with legislative and statutory requirements

  • Compliance with Edgar’s Mission policies and procedures

  • Relevant tertiary accounting / finance qualification
  • Confident with MYOB, XERO, Excel, Google docs.
  • Knowledgeable with online databases and reporting

  • Will require a current Working with Children Check

  • Will require a current Police Check
