About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Financial Counsellor to join LC's Financial Capability and Wellbeing team in Alice Springs, NT.

Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, you will be responsible for providing professional financial counselling to clients in need from Alice Springs, including town camps and remote communities within the Central Australian service area.

Working predominantly from the Alice Springs office, with some travel to surrounding remote communities, the duties include:

  • Provide direct case work or one-on-one intensive support services to clients;
  • Help clients improve their ability to manage their financial affairs in the future;
  • Prepare income/expenditure statements, asset and liability statements and/or budgets;
  • Prepare payment plans in consultation with the client where appropriate;
  • Mentor, support and work collaboratively with Financial Capability Workers; and
  • Occasional day trips and weeklong trips from Monday to Friday, arriving back in Alice Springs on weekends.

In return for your hard work and dedication, LC is offering a competitive remuneration package circa $82,780.88 - $86,528.00 plus super and generous salary packaging up to $16K packaging on top of salary in consultation with provider and circumstances is available to increase your take-home pay.

Relocation assistance is available, as well as 5 weeks annual leave.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will hold a Diploma of Community Service (Financial Counselling)

Beyond sound knowledge of financial counselling principles and practices, the successful candidate will have the ability to work autonomously and within a team to reach team objectives.

You will be able to communicate and respond to challenging situations with flexibility, empathy and diplomacy, to advocate with a range of stakeholders on behalf of your clients.

You will have a solid understanding of Central Australian Indigenous culture and a high level of communication skills both written and verbal, contributing to your ability to connect and work within Indigenous communities.

While experience working within Indigenous Communities and a First Aid Certificate is desirable, it is not essential.
