Junction Australia is a growing and innovative social enterprise supporting around 10,000 South Australians each year through housing and community services. Together, we are committed to effecting long-term positive change for those we work with and the communities that we work in.

As we continue to expand our services, we are looking for multiple Therapeutic Support Workers to join our diverse and supportive team on a part-time and casual basis and make a real difference in the lives of South Australians who we work with.

Make a real difference in the lives of South Australians

Working alongside a team of dedicated professionals, you will primarily focus on children and young people within the houses to improve their confidence and self-esteem by promoting positive attitudes and lifestyle choices. Regular travel during work is a requirement. However, you will be provided with a company car.

Core duties:

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children and young people to develop living skills;
  • Facilitate client participation in a range of educational and recreational activities to enhance their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development;
  • Develop accurate case notes, interaction records, log entries, Client Incident Reports, and plans;
  • Liaise with clients and a range of stakeholders such as government and non-government agencies;
  • Maintain the property clean; and
  • Plan and prepare meals for children and young people in line with healthy food choices and safe food-handling requirements.

What you need to bring to the team

To be successful in this role, you will have completed or will be completing a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Child, Youth and Family intervention (or equivalent), as well as demonstrated previous experience in responding to trauma-related behaviours.

Please note that if you are currently completing your Certificate IV in Youth Work or Child, Youth and Family intervention, you must complete it within the first 12 months of employment. Applications from candidates who are degree or tertiary qualified in (or undertaking) Social Work or Psychology will also be highly regarded.

You will have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to effectively engage and establish rapport with clients, staff and a range of external agencies. It is paramount that you are able to work across a 24/7 roster and undertake passive (sleepover) and active night shifts. You will also be expected to participate in the on-call roster. Before commencing employment, you will be required to possess the following:

  • Working with children’s check
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Safe Environment Certificate
  • A current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid medical exemption

You will also be required to undertake a psychological assessment as part of the recruitment process.
