The Kimberley is one of the world’s special regions. You can still immerse yourself in deep nature and experience the world’s oldest vibrant culture. It’s a rare and magical place, but in serious need of protection.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Environs Kimberley (EK) has been working for the past 25 years to make sure the rivers, wetlands, gorges, coast and tropical savannah remain intact. Established in 1996 to protect the Fitzroy River, we now work across the region to ensure responsible development that is locally based and compatible with the qualities and values of this special part of the world.

We’ve got a great team of people with strong connections across the region. Many of us have been here for over a decade working in a flexible, family-friendly workplace that supports a healthy work–life balance.

The role includes organising fundraising and awareness-raising events:

  • The annual EK Art Auction, both live and online
  • Concerts with high-calibre performing artists. Past events have featured performers like John Butler, Missy Higgins and the Pigram Brothers, attracting up to 1,000 patrons

The contract being offered is for 18 months at 3 days per week. We are open to and encourage staff to seek other work opportunities in the organisation that help build capacity and increase our effectiveness.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written, ideally in a multiple stakeholder engagement setting
  • Demonstrated experience of work in cross-cultural settings
  • Event and fundraising experience

The ideal candidate will have an ability to work both on their own and constructively within a team and be aligned with EK’s vision, mission and values.
