EON Foundation (www.eon.org.au) was created in 2005 to provide practical support to improve the health and well-being of Aboriginal people in remote communities. A not-for-profit organisation, EON delivers the EON Thriving Communities Program, focused on improving nutrition through gardening and nutrition education as a basis for chronic disease prevention across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

About the Position

We are looking for a Project Manager to deliver EON’s Thriving Communities Program to Jigalong Community School and the Jigalong Community.

This role requires planning, planting and maintaining edible gardens and the delivery of practical gardening, cooking and nutrition lessons, with a particular focus on the school children. The aim of the Program is to help the school and community build a sustainable source of fresh healthy food and equip them with the skills to maintain the gardens and good nutrition.

The position requires a motivated, practical person who enjoys working with Indigenous children and adults, is a good communicator, can work independently, is highly adaptable to change and enjoys remote travel.

Conditions & Benefits

  • This position is part-time (26.6 hours per fortnight), with occasional out of hours work required for stakeholder engagement events and activities
  • The salary is $80,720 (pro-rata) plus superannuation, plus the option to salary package up to $18,549 tax free to increase your take home pay
  • 6 weeks annual leave
  • A fully maintained vehicle provided for work purposes
  • A fixed-term contract up until December 2022
  • The successful candidate is required to travel to the Jigalong community as per the program schedule. The role can be based from Jigalong or Newman. If the base location is Newman, community stays are required on a fortnightly basis (usually 1 to 2 nights), with travel time included within the contracted working hours and paid accommodation and meals during community stays.

What we are looking for

We are looking for motivated, practical people who enjoy working with Indigenous children and adults, are good communicators, can work independently and highly adaptable to change.

The criteria includes a qualification in horticulture and training or significant relevant experience, along with an interest in health and nutrition, demonstrated experience in working with children and youth and the ability to plan and facilitate workshops and lessons.

Essential requirements include a current drivers licence, Working with Children Check and a COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (a third dose is also required within one month of becoming eligible).
