The Epilepsy Foundation supports people living with epilepsy and their families to live the life they want. We seek a full time Epilepsy Educator/Trainer to deliver epilepsy education and training and to train others to deliver our programs. 

The role will suit Registered Nurses or Enrolled Nurses with Endorsed Medications or equivalent health qualifications, who hold or are willing to obtain Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. 

Epilepsy education and training is delivered to a range of audiences including direct care providers, health professionals, workplace and community organisations and early learning centre education staff when emergency medication is prescribed.

The position is full time however a 0.8 workload will be considered. In order to meet the role requirements you must be able to maintain flexible work hours and undertake travel with occasional overnight stays paid by the organisation. Typically, this can include work outside normal business hours and occasional weekends. Flexible start times and time in lieu provisions are in place for such occasions. Typically this would involve finishing training between the hours of 5.30pm-8.30pm at the venue site. Regional travel may be required with overnight stay. Travel and accommodation expenses related to work are covered by the Epilepsy Foundation. 

During the peak training period in Term 1 of the school year, annual leave is generally not available. Flexibility to work additional hours at peak times would be an advantage.  

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in health care and/or workplace education and training, especially within established curriculum frameworks to a range of audiences
  • Knowledge of pedagogy and experience in the application of adult learning principles
  • Experience working within a quality framework
  • Experience with developing and maintaining client/customer relationships within a compliance operating environment
  • Knowledge of epilepsy and impact on the individual desirable

Based at our Surrey Hills office the position reports to the Education & Training Manager and offers challenge, opportunity and an attractive, above award remuneration package including salary packaged vehicle and other benefits. Well-developed knowledge of epilepsy is not required but a strong willingness to learn is essential. The successful applicant will receive appropriate supports and equipment to enable them to work from home.

All Epilepsy Foundation staff must complete a National Police Certificate before commencing employment. Epilepsy Educator/Trainers must also complete an NDIS Safety Check.
