Equity Works is a Sunshine Coast based not for profit organisation, committed to promoting personal capacities to children and adults with a disability, through the delivery of a proactive and individualised service response.

We are looking to grow our capacity to support people living in a range of home environments with NDIS funded services. The Team Leader will join a work group that supports people in shared houses in Supported Independent Living (SIL), and people living in host family environments defined as Independent Living Options.

The Team Leader position will be a full-time position based at our Maroochydore Office. Travel to other Sunshine Coast locations will be required as will the ability to step into an active support role should circumstances require from time to time; coaching, mentoring and stepping in where staff shortages have emerged.

The Team Leader will be joining an established team with a positive track record.

We are seeking the following from a skilled and experienced applicant. Formal qualifications in relevant disciplines for Cert IV or above are considered necessary for this position.

Essential Characteristics

  1. Understanding and commitment to a Human Rights Framework.
  2. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position where direct support will be required, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, standing for extended periods, manoeuvring, pushing and operating hoists and wheelchairs.
  3. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the capacity to work closely with staff/people with disability/parents/carers in the development of innovative supports.
  4. Ability to undertake person centred service design that ensures that the goals and aspirations of the person with disability are understood, incorporated into plans and resulting service delivery is outcome based.
  5. Demonstrated ability to build a cohesive team with clarity around goals and accountabilities.
  6. A leadership style that fosters innovate, creative and collaborative practices and the ability to motivate others.
  7. Demonstrated ability to continually address and update practices in line with industry trends and direction.
  8. Demonstrated competence with use of office technology and software, i.e., Excel, Word, ability to quickly acquire competence in online rostering and client management systems;
