Artists & Youth Program Assistant

Our Youth Programs aim to provide a stimulating and relevant environment, which will encourage children and youth from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds as well as youth at risk, aged 5 – 18 years of age, to participate in after-school and weekend sport, art and leadership programs and activities. We are seeking motivated Artists and Youth Program Assistants to work on our Leadership and Creative Arts Programs.

We provide services in various locations across the Perth Metro Area including Mirrabooka, Cannington, Ellenbrook, Banksia Grove, and Butler. The sessions run Monday to Friday from 4 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with coordinators to develop and execute arts and leadership activities for young people.
  • Collect permission forms from participants
  • Collect registration details.
  • Take photos and videos.
  • Support coordinator/volunteers to deliver program and report incidents.
  • Carry pack with valuables and information.
  • Limited social media posting

Essential

  1. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination in line with advice from the WA Government.
  2. Have (or be willing to obtain) a Working with Children Check.
  3. Have (or be willing to obtain) a National Police Clearance Check.
  4. Have a current driver's license and vehicle.

Desirable - A Degree, Diploma, Certificate, or approved equivalent qualifications.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  1. Have a passion for community service and working to develop young people to their full potential and the promotion of healthy lifestyles among youth, including the ability to establish good mentoring relationships.
  2. Ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities including an understanding of issues faced by these communities.
  3. Good time management and organisation skills.
  4. Good general IT skills
