About You

Are you are motivated to improve the lives of those living with mental illness, cognitive or intellectual concerns? Can you resolve conflict & deal with practical issues to support others and achieve outcomes?

  • Effective listening skills & an adaptable communication style
  • Confidence to be assertive & make decisions when required, transparent and patient
  • Capability to advocate for others and build support networks
  • Enthusiasm to contribute and work collaboratively within a team
  • Prior experience supporting people with mental illness and/or disability where challenging behaviours are common (either in a work or personal context)
  • Qualifications / experience in Mental Health, Individual Support, Disability, Social Work or other relevant qualification

This position will be working in a team to cover shifts to maintain 24/7 support. This will involve morning, afternoon and completing active night and sleep over shifts.

It is a requirement of this position to acquire and maintain a positive Working With Children’s Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and a current & valid driver’s license. You will also be required to use your personal mobile device to access information such as your roster, client information and submitting case notes.

About the Role

You will be joining our team in Bendigo that provides complex mental health support. We assist & support people in their own homes to develop skills and abilities to handle day to day tasks. Our goal is to enable rather than do, to promote independence, development and confidence of the individuals. This role has a large focus on supporting people with their mental health requirements and assisting people with their different behaviours of concern. Our success will enable them to have the voice and choice to thrive in their local communities.

The role entails:

  • Meeting the individual needs according to an established behavioural support plan
  • Developing professional relationships with individuals, their families and others in the community
  • Supporting the development of daily living skills and capacity for self-care
  • Providing accurate and timely case notes so that others can provide a consistent experience for the individual
  • Working in a way that supports a strong safety culture for you, your peers and the people we support
  • Engage in and self-direct ongoing professional development and practice improvement
