  • $115,000 - $129,999 plus 13.5% Super (pro rata)

Role

This role is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in all areas of managing the finance function. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Processing of invoices and payments
  • Processing of receipts
  • Processing of payroll
  • Preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements and FBT Returns
  • Assisting in the preparation of management and statutory reports
  • Providing support to the internal and external audit programs and to continuously improving the ETU’s accounting and control environment

Responsibilities and Duties

Accounting:

  • Maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Processing of invoices and payments (ETU use ProSpend for all invoices and expenses)
  • Processing of receipts
  • Processing of payroll
  • Processing of member payment batches

Financial Reporting:

  • Provide support and assistance to the Finance Manager in the preparation of management statutory and regulatory accounting and financial reports.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in preparing the annual Budget and in monitoring performance of Budget vs Actuals.

Internal Control:

  • Document, maintain and continuously improve accounting and control procedures.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the external and internal audit programs and implementation of audit findings as required.
  • Assist the Finance Manager to enhance financial systems, processes and practices through continuous improvement and innovation.

Other:

  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements
  • Prepare information for FBT Returns
  • Manage ETU credit cards including organising authorisation of expenditure,
  • Manage motor vehicle administration consistent with the ETU’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
  • Undertake other duties as requested.
  • Act as primary backup to the Finance Manager when required.
  • Perform duties in a manner that ensures peoples’ health, wellbeing and safety.
  • Identify and communicate key risks, ensure that risk management processes are followed and that risk management is embedded in the processes for which the position is responsible.
  • Ad hoc project work to improve/streamline finance functions and duties.

Qualifications, Experience and Capabilities

Qualifications Essential / Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting – Essential
  • Professional membership with CPA/CA or equivalent - Essential

Experience / Knowledge and Skills:

Accounting:

  • Five years + experience in management or statutory accounting and reporting.
  • Experience or understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions.
  • Knowledge of financial governance and control practices and requirements.

Financial Systems:

  • Excellent working knowledge of MYOB or similar accounting system.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel (Medium/Advanced Skills). Experience with Power BI would be highly regarded
