Senior Energy Policy Analyst

Environment Victoria

Environment Victoria – one of Australia’s leading environmental advocacy groups – is hiring for a Senior Energy Policy Analyst (permanent, part-time, flexible working arrangements).

You will operate at the intersection of policy and politics on the biggest energy and climate challenges facing Victoria and Australia. You will play a key role in our public and private advocacy for a fast transition to a clean and modern electricity grid – from driving our research and analysis through to direct engagement with decision-makers and key external stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with strong research and analytical skills, can present an articulate and compelling case based on evidence, and who has the political nous to leverage all of this to drive change. A good working knowledge of Australian energy policy will be essential to success but if you have the skills and can learn quickly on the job, this position is open to you even if your current focus is in other areas.

You may have a background in the energy industry, consulting, public service, politics, journalism, NGOs or academia. Whatever your background, you have an ability to quickly get up to speed on complex policy issues and to be an insightful policy analyst and savvy policy advocate.

You will become our in-house expert on a range of related policy issues, including the roll-out of renewable energy and storage projects, getting the electricity grid ready for more renewables, emissions targets, local pollution from coal power stations and coal mine rehabilitation issues.

For further information, see the position description in the supporting documents below.

We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, people of colour, women, people with disability and members of the LGBTIQA+ community.

For questions not addressed by the position description, contact our Campaigns Manager Nick Aberle on 0402 512 121.
