Role Overview

BCF is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team on a part-time basis (2-3 days a week). This position offers the unique opportunity to work with adults experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, and substance use disorders. As a Clinical Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care while retaining 100% of your Medicare billings. This is a flexible, non-salaried position that allows for an independent and impactful practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and expert psychiatric care to adults facing homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders.
  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and develop individualised treatment plans that address the complex needs of each client.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, client-centred care that promotes recovery and stability.
  • Offer guidance and supervision to other clinical staff, contributing to their professional development and the enhancement of service delivery.
  • Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders and community organisations to ensure clients have access to a broad range of services.
  • Manage your own Medicare billing, retaining 100% of your billings for services provided.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or equivalent.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent postgraduate psychiatric qualifications.
  • Significant experience in providing psychiatric care to adults with complex mental health conditions, including substance use disorders and homelessness.
  • Strong expertise in crisis intervention, psychiatric assessment, and management of mental health conditions in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and to lead by example in clinical practice.
  • Familiarity with Medicare billing processes and the ability to independently manage your own billing.
